Lauren Parker is a teaching artist, currently working with the School District of Philadelphia as a K-8 art teacher. She graduated with an M.A.T. in art education from The University of the Arts in 2007 and holds a B.S. in fashion design from Drexel University. Lauren teaches a wide range of art media from painting, drawing, and printmaking to sculpture and beyond. She has experience teaching age groups from pre-k through college and enjoys working collaboratively with classroom teachers on interdisciplinary curriculum. Lauren has been teaching art and design to Philadelphia’s children for many years through some of the city’s most exciting arts organizations. In addition to Fleisher, she works with Settlement Music School, Moore College of Art, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and The Philadelphia Art Education Partnership, along with others. She is also a former co-owner of Mew Gallery, a combination gallery and boutique focusing on local artists, designers, and crafters in South Philadelphia. Lauren lives to promote art and artists and is excited and motivated through the worlds of art, design and education. Her main goal is to encourage and support the growth of creative thought and problem solving skills in her students.
