Faculty Fellowship Exhibition: Mary Tasillo

September 5 to October 11, 2015

Fleisher faculty member Mary Tasillo is the recipient of the Dene M. Louchheim Fellowship, which is awarded biennially and includes an exhibition at Fleisher and a $1,000 award. The Louchheim Fellowship was created in memory of Dene Louchheim, former Chairperson of the Fleisher Art Memorial from 1964 to 1980, and spouse of Stuart Louchheim, Samuel Fleisher’s nephew. Mary’s work will be on view in the Suzanne Fleisher and Ralph Joel Roberts Gallery September 5 through October 10. An opening reception will be held September 5 at 6:00 p.m.

Mary is a Philadelphia-based artist who teaches in a variety of media. She exhibits her work nationally and internationally, and her books and prints are owned by collections both public and private. Mary teaches workshops around the country and writes about hand papermaking and book arts for publications such as Journal of Artist’s Books, Hand Papermaking Newsletter, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Mary works collaboratively as part of the street-based Book Bombs project and as co-founder of The Soapbox: Independent Publishing Center. She also works for Hand Papermaking and with numerous community and arts institutions around Philadelphia.
