Drawing the Figure
This class will provide you with an introduction to drawing from the model. Emphasis will be given seeing and understanding proportion, gesture and light and shadow. You will learn to describe the direction of the light, and the complexion of the model. We will work with charcoal, and then move to red and white chalks used in conjunction with colored paper. The instructor will demonstrate each of the new media as they are introduced. All levels of student will benefit from the stress on fundamentals of drawing the human figure.
Fleisher will be closed on Monday May 27, to observe the Memorial Day holiday, the make-up session will be on June 12.

The observation and understanding of gesture in all aspects of the figure
Learning to see the direction of light in terms of light and shadow patterns
Observing the model’s complexion as a relationship of skin color, hair color and eye color
Seeing the three qualities of light: light, transition and shadow
