Expressive Approaches to Painting

Explore the expressive qualities of paint and learn to work from your intuition and imagination. While intuitive painting can occur within and during other approaches to art making, in a course like this we will try to make some inroads into creativity on the fly. We will foster global thinking in our approach, while trying to nudge our imaginations with a number of process oriented approaches. From drawing with compressed charcoal on canvas, to painting with rags and experimenting with transparent and opaque films, we’ll delve into a variety of techniques and strategies to unleash the expressive mark and discover a new approach to your painting style.
