History of Japanese Art and Design

This workshop will focus on the evolution of traditional Japanese arts in contemporary Japanese society. The synthesis of Japanese traditionalism and integration of technology continues to shape various youth subcultures and popular design aesthetics that have gained popularity on a global scale. Topics will include ceramics and pottery styles, historic schools of painting, post-WWII art movements, urban planning and architecture, contemporary fashion trends, and use of technology with art and design spaces.
