This is your introduction to the printmaking processes of etching, relief and lithography. You will explore each technique by creating an edition of prints and will gain knowledge of plate preparation, image making, ink, paper selection and printing.
Participants must have a valid Fleisher membership. Please note that our tuition-free classes for adults fill very quickly. What will you learn in this class?
Gain a basic knowledge of printmaking types and history
Explore etching—image making, plate etching and printing
Explore relief printing—linoleum plate prep, image making, cutting and printing
Explore lithography—polyester plate prep, imaging making and printing
Gain an understanding of paper types, ink types and print editioning
Required supplies for the start of the term:
A supply kit for this class is available for $51 as an additional item at the time of registration. The kit is optional, includes the supplies listed below, and may be picked up at Fleisher’s school store on the first day of class.
Sketchbook for developing drawings and ideas and for taking notes (optional)*
One pad newsprint (at least 14x 17 inches)*
Black permanent marker (Sharpie)*
Later in the term you will need:
5×7 inch zinc plate*
Four sheets of Rives BFK 250 weight paper*
