Terracotta Figure Sculpture

Explore the terracotta technique (creation of a figure without an armature) for seated and reclining poses. This is a spontaneous process where qualities and textures can be captured without casting. Students will work with fresh clay on 12” x 20”- ¾” plywood boards and pieces can be up to 22” in height. Pieces will be fired.

  • Wooden skewers

  • Modeling tools

  • Plastic bag or plastic sheeting for covering sculptures
