DESCRIPTION:Deepen your experience of one or both watercolor and pastel painting\, either on their own or in combination with each other. Each student will work individually with the instructor to identify an area of growth\, a project\, or an idiom of painting to develop. Foundational techniques such as color mixing\, paint handling\, composition\, shading\, hatching\, and blending will be taught as a means for each student to further their development. As needed\, we will explore even using acrylic mediums to further both pastel and watercolor language. DESCRIPTION:The American Western film has been enormously influential in shaping the nation’s sense of identity and founding ideals. And like all myths\, these stories have been retold and re-framed over time in order to capture the richness and complexity of the American experience. DESCRIPTION:The American Western film has been enormously influential in shaping the nation’s sense of identity and founding ideals. And like all myths\, these stories have been retold and re-framed over time in order to capture the richness and complexity of the American experience. We’ll be screening four films that go beyond simplistic tales of men in white hats and black hats to tell offbeat taless that shed new light on our lives and history. Self care is key to a balanced and happy lifestyle–treat yourself to this very special offering and maybe discover the benefits of this mindful practice. Even if you’ve never tried yoga before\, all levels are welcome\, and modifications for poses will always be available to you! \n  \nTo attend all five sessions\, you may register for this offering and pay the $40 program fee. Drop-ins for single sessions are available at the front desk for $10 per session.

SUMMARY:jumpstART: One of a Kind Screenprint
DESCRIPTION:Explore and experiment with the immediacy of this one of a kind screenprinting technique. Printed images will be made using Caran D’Ache water-soluble crayons and soft graphite to create layers of drawings and textures. Explore the many different effects possible achieved with simple\, freeing and direct techniques. You do not need to have a plan for an image\, as it is possible to experiment with the materials and our extensive collection of textures that we use for rubbings directly on the screen. Of course\, if you have some ideas in mind please bring in sketches or images to use for source material.
