SUMMARY:Social Activism Through Art: the Politics of Art in Puerto Rico\, Part Two
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we continue the conversation with Oskar Pierre Castro (They/He)\, an artist/author/political analyst/non-violent activist/DEI practitioner/parent and spouse with over 20 years of service in the nonprofit sector working on youth development\, career development\, peace activism\, labor rights\, and justice-equity-inclusion. A 1992 graduate of Rowan University where they majored in law & justice\, Oskar currently serves as the director of human resources and inclusion for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Originally from South Jersey\, Oskar moved to Philadelphia in 1994\, and as a multi-faceted artist\, Oskar employs music\, poetry\, and graphic art to creatively communicate their ideas about the world. They are currently working on completing a documentary about the debt crisis that has plagued Puerto Rico and the compounded impact that hurricanes and earthquakes have had on the economic stability there. \nOskar will once again be joined in conversation by Gerard Silva\, a Puerto Rican artist living in Philadelphia and Fleisher’s manager of exhibitions and special projects. \nThis event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $10 but is limited to a maximum number of 100 participants. Advanced registration is required. The event will be hosted through Zoom\, which can be accessed on desktop and laptop computers\, as well as mobile devices. We highly recommend downloading the Zoom app to your device in advance. You will receive a URL to join the event after you complete the registration process.
