4th-5th Grade: Mixed Media Book Making with Alison Dilworth

Students will learn to make pop-up books, tiny matchbox books etc. while learning drawing and collage techniques, building meaningful content based on each student’s amazing brain.

Instructor: Alison Dilworth

Required supplies:

  • 1 matchbox (any size)

  • 1 Pack fold-over matches (matches removed)

  • Plain white paper (about 30 sheets)

  • Fine point black drawing pens (0.1, 0.3 – the instructor recommends Stadtler or Micron)

  • Sharpie marker

  • Pencil

  • Eraser

  • Needles (with a big enough eye for kids to thread without too much trouble)

  • Thread (any color)

  • Thumbtacks (for poking holes)

  • 2 glue sticks

  • Sharp scissors

  • A scrap of cardboard (to use as a work surface)

  • An old book that is okay to destroy in the name of art

  • Collage materials

  • A stapler (only if you already own one)
