Coming of Age in Global Cinema (five-session class)
The journey from youth to adult has had an enduring appeal to filmmakers worldwide. We’ll examine five disparate “coming of age” films from around the world, giving a whimsical, dramatic and fantastic spin to the fleeting youthful moment. We’ll discuss new wrinkles modern cinema brings to the genre, the state of contemporary childhood, and the strategies and techniques the directors and their collaborators utilize to evoke the sensations of youth on screen.
