Animation is a medium not a genre! This course will give a deep grounding in the methods and principles of traditional animation. Throughout this class you will view short films, experiment with a variety of techniques, participate in group discussions, and create a number of short films of your own devising.

What you will learn in this workshop:
Expanded knowledge of the medium of animation and all its potential.
Understanding of the technical processes involved in creating cel based animation. Ability to analyze movement and convey emotion and meaning through a series of drawings.
Grounding in the process of creating a finished work from start to finish. This process will include idea gathering, writing, storyboarding, roughs, iteration, finals, and critique.
Sketchbook and Drawing tools
Please bring an external flash or hard drive to class or be prepared to save your work on a cloud-based storage alternative. Fleisher’s computers are shared tools and the hard drives are cleared regularly to keep them in good working condition.
