Drawing with Confidence

Designed for students who already have a grasp of basic drawing techniques, this class takes you deeper into form, structure, and expression. Students will be learning key concepts such as atmospheric perspective, detailed rendering, intermediate perspective, use of color, and combining materials. Each class features a directed exercise designed to be used for more complex subject matter. This class is intended for those who are looking to take their drawing to the next level.

To make our classes and workshops accessible to everyone, Fleisher offers tuition assistance every term so that everyone can join our creative community. We have recently streamlined the application process, making it even quicker and easier. Tuition assistance applications can be completed once registration is open by clicking here. The deadline to apply for fall term assistance is Monday, August 29th. Tuition assistance notifications will be sent by Friday, September 2nd.

What you will learn:

  • Make detailed rendered value drawing of real objects

  • Create volumetric drawing using light and dark in multiple mediums

  • Create foreground, middle ground, and background

  • Handle complicated subjects and correctly place groups of objects

  • Begin to develop an understanding of decisive, quick sketching

  • Confidence and comfort with the materials

Required Supplies:

  • Drawing pad 11 x 14 or 9 x 12, 80 or 90lb smooth white paper

  • Small Sketchbook such as 6 x 8 (Dick Blick has some in the front section for $6)

  • Colored Pencils

  • Pencil sharpener

  • Kneaded eraser

  • Ruler

  • Painter’s or drafting tape ½”
