Drawing with Confidence
Designed for students who already have a grasp of basic drawing techniques, this online class takes you deeper into form, structure, and expression. Students will be learning key concepts such as atmospheric perspective, detailed rendering, intermediate perspective, use of color, and combining materials. Each class features a directed exercise designed to be used for more complex subject matter. This class is intended for those who are looking to take their drawing to the next level.

This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.

Create volumetric drawing using light and dark in multiple mediums
Create foreground, middle ground, and background
Handle complicated subjects and correctly place groups of objects
Begin to develop an understanding of decisive, quick sketching

Strathmore Drawing Pad 14×17
Medium Surface Strathmore 500 Charcoal 9×12, assorted tints
Drawing pencils (Box) Staedtler HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 7B, 8B
Kneaded eraser
Staedtler eraser
Cotton swabs
2” brush or similar size/synthetic (Lowe’s/Home Depot)
Small plastic container for trash
Ruler
Mechanic pencil 7mm (Dollar Store)
Prismacolor colored pencils (box of 24 pencils)
General’s charcoal bencils box of four: Soft, Medium, Hard + White
Tracing paper pad 9x12in.
Strathmore black Sharpie ultra fine point
A printer is required for this class (students will be asked to make photocopies of templates and preparatory drawing schemes sent every week by the instructor)
