Exhibition Boot Camp with DaVinci Art Alliance

Critique and exhibit your art with Da Vinci Art Alliance and Fleisher Art Memorial. The artistic process does not end upon completing a work of art. If displaying artwork in a gallery setting is something you want to strive for, learning what a curator does will better inform your artistic practice. This new opportunity to work with a professional curator and veteran Fleisher faculty unpacks the multifaceted role of the curator and provides you with a better understanding of how to best present your artwork in an exhibition.

Students apply their gained knowledge to curate a two-week group exhibition of their own work, presented in January of 2020 as part of Da Vinci Art Alliance’s exhibition schedule.

Please bring three to five of your strongest artworks to critique in class. Bring a notebook and pen or laptop to take notes.

What you will learn:

  • How to effectively discuss artwork and best articulate the ideas your work embodies

  • How curators function and what conceptual and formal concerns inform the creation of an exhibition

  • How to install artwork and present an exhibition

Required supplies:

  • Three to five of your strongest artworks to critique in class

  • Bring a notebook and pen to take notes or laptop if preferred
