Experimental Watercolor (online, five-session workshop)
Linking abstraction to reality can be simultaneously one of the most exhilarating, yet perplexing forms of expression. In this highly energetic workshop learn to abandon fears and truly embrace the experimentation of what water based mediums can do. You will discover the joy in relinquishing control through guided drawing and painting exercises that transition through modes of inspiration and thought process.

This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.

What you will learn:
Really explore alternative painting techniques
Get comfortable with working wet into wet
Take risks and experiment
Use composition and line to strengthen your drawings
Required supplies:
Paper towels or rags
Two or more water containers
Palette and/or mixing dishes
Palette knife
Natural sponge
Liquid masking fluid
Plastic spray bottle
Painters tape
Watercolor brushes: round tip – #4 and #10, 1-inch flat brush
Watercolor paper: individual sheets or block 140 lb. cold pressed, any size is good (12×18 inch is a nice standard size)
Watercolor paint in tubes (colors will be discussed the first day of class): a few suggested brands – Winsor & Newton, Da Vincci, L’Aquarelle, Holbein, Daniele Smith Watercolors
Water soluble colored pencils and crayons (optional)
Waterproof black ink (optional)
Salt (optional)
