Figure Drawing (Thursday Morning)

Learn the fundamentals of figure drawing through exploring the figure’s structure, proportion, and gesture. Discussion on basic anatomical structures combined with direct observation with live models will round out this highly energetic course. As the class develops, we will explore the use of conte crayon and more substantial heavy rag papers.

What you will learn:

  • Fitting the whole figure form on the page

  • Comfort with the drawing medium at hand

  • A basic grasp of proportions and knowledge of bodily landmarks

Required supplies:

  • A sketchbook

  • 18″ x 24″ Newsprint paper

  • Charcoal

  • Kneaded rubber eraser

  • Midway through the semester you will need conte crayon, pastels, and heavy rag paper
