Figure Drawing (morning, tuition-free)

Learn the basic theories, principals, and techniques to successfully draw the figure. With a focus on improving observational skills, the class will also build essential knowledge of drawing fundamentals through handouts, demonstrations, and lots of drawing from a live model. Benefit from plenty of individual instructor feedback, group discussions, and dialogue about your work in progress to help improve your drawing skills.

What you will learn:

  • Gesture drawings

  • Long drawing

  • Drawing from multiple viewpoints

  • Composing multiple figures on the page

  • Discussing methods and materials

Required supplies:

  • A newsprint pad, suggested size 18″ x 24”

  • A sketchbook, suggested size 8″ x 10”

  • Pencils HB, 4B, 3B *

  • Kneaded eraser

Other supplies to be discussed on the first day of class:

  • Soft vine charcoal

  • Charcoal paper pad

  • Toned charcoal paper

  • White chalk, or conte crayon

  • Pastels
