Impressionism at the PMA
Impressionism was the most democratic of art movements in the history of art! For the first time, viewers could see themselves and the day to day world they experienced depicted in painting. Also, because of the freer application of paint and lesser emphasis on drawing viewers cold suddenly imagine themselves finding self-expression through the art of painting. Painting would never again be an exclusive profession of Academy trained specialists.
Paul DuSold will discuss Impressionism as one of the most important art movements in the history of civilization!
