Mosaic Masks

Masks seem to be having a moment. In this class, the moment will be taken into the realm of mosaics. Historically, one of the few places and times people used mosaic masks was Mesoamerica. Learn about the purpose of masks in those (and other) cultures and find design inspiration from their appearance. Participate in discussion about the uses of masks, both positive and negative. Enjoy a conclusive celebratory “unmasking” when students share their wonderful creations with each other.

Online links will be provided to order all supplies, and tools if needed. Claire will provide guidance to design, properly construct and finish the masks. New skills will be explained and demonstrated in detail. Claire creates a warm, inclusive, upbeat, supportive environment. Plan to make mistakes and to succeed! And please ask any and all of the questions you have along the way. All levels welcome.
