Moveable Books (four-session online workshop)
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced book maker this online workshop is your chance to explore the exciting world of movable books. You will learn simple books with fold outs, pop-ups, rotating parts, and other types of movables.

This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.

What you will learn:
Sources for materials, tools, and instructional guidance for future learning
The basic hand skills of cutting, folding and sewing various materials
Different papers and other materials used in bookbinding
A variety of movable book structures
Required supplies:
Bone folder
Olfa cutting knife (or X-acto) with extra blades
Scissors
Awl or thin needle tool (as used for clay)
Self healing cutting mat
Glue stick
Double stick tape
Metal ruler
Triangle
Pencil
White eraser
Bookbinding glue (you will need a minimal amount, Elmers will suffice in a pinch)
Stiff bristle brush for gluing (at least 1” can be synthetic)
Thread: a three-inch piece of any kind of thread will do
Card stock: we will be using quite a bit of this, get yourself some fun colors or patterns
Decorative paper: similar crispness and thickness of copy paper
Various size and shape hole punches (if you have them, this would be for decorative elements)
