Portrait Sculpture

Students will learn portrait through the study of the major geometries of the head and the anatomy which is influences them. This will be accomplished through quick 3D sketches and longer studies, both half and life size. Students will gain an understanding at how to arrive at a likeness of the model.

To make our classes and workshops accessible to everyone, Fleisher offers tuition assistance every term so that everyone can join our creative community. We have recently streamlined the application process, making it even quicker and easier. Tuition assistance applications can be completed once registration is open by clicking here. The deadline to apply for fall term assistance is Monday, August 29th. Tuition assistance notifications will be sent by Friday, September 2nd.

Required supplies:

  • Modeling tools

  • Notebook

  • Plastic bag

  • Rag to keep the clay head wet

  • Straight pipe armature (a sealed board with a flange and a vertical pipe)

  • If you would like to keep and fire your finished work, you must purchase clay at Fleisher’s front desk
