Sanctuary as Site: The Art of Installation
In this workshop participants will respond to Fleisher’s Sanctuary and create unique works through free writing, media production, found object, sculptural installation, and (perhaps most importantly!) play.
The workshop considers how we can create works that connect personal narratives, history and fiction through sculpture, installation and creative media production. You will also have the opportunity to learn about media production and installation in cooperation with members of PhillyCAM (Philadelphia Community Access Media).
Instructors: Katya Gorker and Suzanne Seesman.
What you will learn:
History and contemporary perspectives on installation art
Brainstorming ideas for site specific installation works
Recording and editing video and sound with accessible software and equipment
Manipulating found objects and sculptural forms within an installation context
Smartphone or digital camera if available
Additional materials, to be discussed: found objects, additional materials may need to be purchased depending on individual projects
