Secret Geometry of Painting (four-session workshop)
Explore the hidden rules and variables found within some of the world’s most famous paintings. The class will be divided into lecture and practical hands-on painting time. Emphasis will be placed on learning to see and learning what to look for in a work of art, to decipher what is the structure that makes a work of art successful. We will look for visual patterns, similar shapes, and overall pictorial ideas that make a painting work and stand apart from the rest. Some artists we will discuss: Picasso, Matisse, Cezanne, Piero Della Francesca, Puvis de Chavannes, Chardin and more. This class will be useful for art enthusiasts and seasoned artists alike.
This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.
