Storytelling Through Art (grades 6-8)

This course will explore the many legacies of storytelling in the visual arts. The class will investigate Faith Ringgold’s story quilts, Marc Chagall dream paintings, medieval tapestries, and Salvador Dali’s surrealist paintings. Students in this workshop will have the opportunity to show their work at Cherry Street Pier in July!

Required supplies:

  • Paper

  • Pencil

  • Eraser

  • Black permanent marker

  • Watercolor

  • Brush

Supplies for collage:

  • Color paper

  • Scissors

  • Glues or glue stick

  • If possible, a paper heavier/thicker than copy paper is best for watercolor painting
