Pop Arts: Still Life Drawing (grades 6-8)

Students will learn how to stage and light a still life image using objects available to them. Then we’ll draw from observation, working on our knowledge of shadows and values.

Pop Arts are Fleisher’s new online Saturday workshops, featuring fun and engaging art-making experiences for young artists in grades K-12. Carefully designed by our talented teaching artists, each Pop Arts workshop runs for 90 minutes. Young artists and their families are encouraged to sign up for as many workshops as they want! Each workshop is offered with a suggested donation of $10-$15. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Pop Arts will be hosted on Zoom, and you will receive a link to join once you complete your registration.

Required supplies:
Paper
Pencil (charcoal optional)
Eraser
Still life objects (simple shapes, nothing complex – e.g. mugs, sports balls, boxes, books, fruit or other food items)
A surface to stage them on (ie: table, counter, floor)
A portable lamp (something to light the still life with)
