Call for New Members: Student Advisory Committee
The Student Advisory Committee is a great way to get involved in Fleisher Art Memorial. We are looking for new members!
What is the Student Advisory Committee?
It’s a group of Fleisher students who act as a liaison between Fleisher’s administration and the adult students.
What does the Student Advisory Committee do?
We funnel suggestions, concerns, complaints and compliments from the adult students to the Fleisher administration.
We welcome returning students on the first night of classes with drinks and snacks.
We help new students find their way to their classes and studios.
We help with the annual student show and award our own prize to a student whose work we think might have been overlooked.
We have sponsored potlucks and bake sales.
Why do we do this?
For the community! Fleisher is a diverse group of people of all ages and backgrounds who share a love of art. The Student Advisory Committee is also a diverse bunch, but we all share a love of Fleisher.
But I don’t have any experience! And I don’t like serving on committees.
You don’t need experience! We are looking for fresh ideas. And we’re an easy-going bunch. No pressure or politics. We try to have fun.
How much time will I have to put into this?
We generally meet on Zoom for one hour, once a month. Volunteering for special events might take a few hours a couple of times a year.
How long will I have to serve?
We ask for a two-year commitment.
What’s in it for me?
Student Advisory Committee members get a free Fleisher membership and discounted classes.
