Rituals for Reclamation: An artist talk and reflection on the dinner ritual

Join Leeway x Fleisher Visual Artist-in-Residence Candy Alexandra González @candy_alexandra1 on Sunday, January 25th from 1-2:30pm for the culminating event in the “Rituals for Reclamation” series, which was a multidisciplinary artistic exploration of maize and queerness.

​This artist talk is the final ritual of Rituals for Reclamation, a three part project supported by the Leeway x Fleisher Visual Artist-In-Residence program that sought to hold space for sapphic queers of color to engage in the reclamation of the term “tortillera”, which has historically been a derogatory term used to denote lesbianism. This artist talk will serve as a reflection on the first two rituals of the project and an invitation to the broader community to learn about this body of work.
