Fleisher’s Community Safety Policies for Reopening

After many months of preparation, Fleisher is excited to welcome students back to our studios this fall. Our health and safety policies are outlined below and are the result of careful consideration of guidelines issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Centers for Disease Control. Please note that this in an evolving plan and we encourage you to revisit it often.

Fleisher is limiting public access to the building, primarily to staff, contractors, and registered students. The gallery is currently closed, and no visitors or guests are permitted entry without an appointment. If you are a student in need of retrieving something from your locker or studio space, please contact us at info@fleisher.org to schedule a time to visit.

What to expect when you arrive
At this time, only students registered for an open studio wearing masks are allowed into the building. Students are asked to refrain from entering the building until ten minutes before their registered time (see open studio hours and capacity below for additional details). All visitors, including those to the 705 Christian Street Works on Paper Building will check in at the front desk of the main building at 719 Catharine Street.

Upon arrival, a staff member will take your temperature with a contactless thermometer and ask you the following screening questions:

In the last 72 hours, have you had any of the following? Cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, new loss of taste or smell.

Within the last 14 days, have you come in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19?

Is there someone in your home who has been told they may have COVID-19 and is currently in isolation?

Have you traveled anywhere outside the United States in the past 14 days, or to a state experiencing an outbreak?

Visitors with a temperature greater than 100 degrees or who answer yes to any of the screening questions will be asked to leave and return when they are able to clear the screening.

Open studio sign up and capacity
Members who are registered for an open studio will receive a link to sign up for up to six three-hour slots each week through SignUpGenius. The link will be emailed to registrants every Friday at 9:00 a.m. Open studio capacity is as follows:

If you receive a positive COVID-19 test, please contact Vita Litvak, Fleisher’s associate director for adult education, at vlitvak@fleisher.org. We will notify local public health officials, and share with them any information that will aide their efforts in contact tracing.

After public health officials are notified, Vita will inform staff and recent visitors that Fleisher has been notified that a visitor has tested positive. The individual identity of the person diagnosed with COVID-19 will remain anonymous. Upon receiving news of a positive COVID-19 test, Fleisher may close briefly for deep cleaning and disinfection. Any closures or disruption will be announced via email.
