Film Series: Reenvisioning the Western
The American Western film has been enormously influential in shaping the nation’s sense of identity and founding ideals. And like all myths, these stories have been retold and re-framed over time in order to capture the richness and complexity of the American experience. We’ll be screening four films that go beyond simplistic tales of men in white hats and black hats to tell offbeat taless that shed new light on our lives and history. We’ll examine the western genre, the careers and viewpoints of the filmmakers and enjoy post-screening conversation.
