Fleisher From a Distance: Drawing a Portrait Demonstration
Experience teaching artist Paul DuSold’s exciting approach to drawing a portrait. By working from a photograph, Paul will walk us through the entire process of achieving a likeness. Each step of the process will be explained. Methods for achieving light and shadow and the illusions of texture such as skin and hair will also be discussed. Draw along with the demonstration or simply sit back and enjoy.
Paul describes his work as “atmospheric representationalism,” with still life, portraiture, and figures in landscape being his primary interests. His paintings have been exhibited at Gross McCleaf Gallery (Philadelphia), Carspecken Scott Gallery (Wilmington), Vose Galleries (Boston), The Woodmere Art Museum, and The Wayne Art Center, among other locations. His commissioned portraits hang in the collections of The Union League of Philadelphia, Temple University Medical School, Mellon Bank, Pennsylvania Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University, and many others.
