Fleisher Art Memorial Welcomes Allison Rose to Board of Directors
Rose, a longtime student and retired leader in higher education, brings passion for the arts and community engagement to Fleisher’s Board
PHILADELPHIA, PA — July 30, 2025 — Fleisher Art Memorial (Fleisher) is proud to announce the appointment of Allison Rose to its Board of Directors. A devoted member of the Fleisher community for more than two decades, Rose brings deep experience in organizational leadership and a lifelong passion for the arts.
“Allison brings an incredible depth of experience in higher education, a personal commitment to the arts, and a generous spirit that aligns beautifully with Fleisher’s mission,” said Monica Zimmerman, Executive Director of Fleisher Art Memorial. “She has long been part of the Fleisher family as a student and supporter, and we are thrilled to now welcome her in this leadership role.”
Rose is recently retired from the University of Pennsylvania after nearly 35 years in administrative leadership. She served the majority of her career as chief of staff in the School of Arts and Sciences, most recently as Vice Dean, providing strategic and operational guidance across one of Penn’s largest academic divisions. Rose holds both a B.A. and an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania and lives in Philadelphia.
A lifelong fiber art enthusiast, Rose has studied at Fleisher for over 20 years. Her creative work focuses on resist dye techniques, particularly shibori, as well as embroidery. She is also an avid student of historical and contemporary global textiles, and her international travels often center on textile traditions and craftsmanship.
“By welcoming all to be artists, Fleisher not only nurtures art itself but instills creativity in many areas of our lives,” said Rose. “As both a longtime Fleisher student and a longtime admirer of Fleisher’s innovative community engagement, I am inspired by their important mission and excited to help advance it as I take on this role.”
