Fleisher From a Distance: Refining a Figure Painting

You might have seen Sasha Budayev’s winter demonstration on how to start a figure painting. This is your chance to see a demonstration of the next steps and the refining process. Sasha will work on an already started piece and demonstrate how he takes the figure painting to completion. We’ll talk about paint application, color mixing, human forms, and anatomy.

Sasha was born in 1988 in Minsk, Belarus. From 2004 through 2008 he studied painting at Minsk State Art College. From 2008 through 2014 he also studied at the Saint-Petersburg Academy of Art (Repin Academy). He studied contemporary art and critical theory at the School of Engaged Art Chto Delat, Saint-Petersburg, and the School of a Young Artist ProArte, Saint-Petersburg. As a third-year student, he started to teach academic painting and drawing from life as well as composition at art schools and ateliers. For the 2017-2018 academic year, he taught drawing and painting at Minsk State Art College. Recently, in addition to Fleisher, he has been teaching drawing at Princeton Academy of Art as well as figure drawing and a basic drawing class for children at Bridgeview School of Fine Art, New York.
