Fleisher From a Distance – Figure Painting: Getting Started

Take the first steps to painting the figure with teaching artist James Dupree. We’ll look at a step by step approach to the art of figure painting with a live demonstration while working with a model.

James began exploring art at Fleisher as a child and has been a member of our faculty for many years. He’s known for his variety of paintings, drawings, prints and mixed media pieces. He is a recipient of the Living Legend Award from University of Pennsylvania, and is among the first black graduates of the university’s master of fine arts program. His paintings are housed in public and private collections around the world, and numerous public works are displayed throughout the city. A great deal of his work has also been purchased by various corporate and private collectors such as The Dave Matthews Band, Chaka Khan and Patti LaBelle.

This demonstration is open to the public with a suggested donation of $10 but is limited to maximum number of 100 participants. Advanced registration is required. The tour will be hosted through Zoom, which can be accessed on desktop and laptop computers, as well as mobile devices. We highly recommend downloading the Zoom app to your device in advance. You will receive a URL to join the demonstration after you complete the registration process.
