Fleisher From a Distance: Meditative Stitching Demonstration with Marie Elcin
Join fiber artist and Fleisher faculty member Marie Elcin for an evening stitch meditation. Discover the calming practice of moving needle and thread and the joy of being part of a circle of stitchers. If you want to follow along have a needle, thread, scissors, and two squares of fabric (4-6 inches) at hand when you sign in.
Marie is a fiber artist and art educator from Philadelphia. She has a BFA in 2D fine art from Moore College of Art and Design and a masters of art education from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She currently teaches printmaking and fiber arts at Fleisher and is an art teacher at a charter middle school in South Philadelphia. Working in fibers keeps her connected to family and cultural traditions, and teaching art in schools and communities allows her to explore art and ideas in social contexts.
