The Love-In, a cherished family-friendly event launched in 2000, serves as an introduction to and celebration of printmaking as well as Fleisher’s mission of making art accessible to all. Traditionally hosted in February, this year we’re bringing the event back in June to coincide with National Loving Day. The date commemorates the US Supreme Court’s 1967 decision to strike down laws in several states that banned interracial marriage. The decision was sparked by Loving v. Virginia, a court case involving Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple from Virginia who married in 1958.

This year’s Love-In will feature printing sessions geared towards children and adults and no prior printmaking experience is needed. Participants will learn processes and techniques including lithograph, silkscreen, wood, and linoleum blocks. Incorporating designs contributed by Philadelphia artists, attendees will create and decorate their own love notes and prints.
